candle care

To get the best experience from your candle and avoid potential issues, please follow these candle care tips:

- Trim wicks to 1⁄4 inch before each lighting to avoid excess smoke and uneven burning. The wicks we use are designed to bend while it burns, which helps prevent excess smoking and soot.

- Never leave a burning candle unattended.

- Place candle on a stable, heat-safe surface away from drafts.

- Do not attempt to pick up a candle while it is lit.

- Allow melted wax pool to harden completely before relighting.

- Discontinue use if there is less than 1⁄4 inch of wax remaining.

- Do not burn candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Allow to cool completely before relighting.

- Use a candle snuffer or blow out gently to extinguish - never use water.

Troubleshooting

Hang Up of Wax:

The hangup you will see during your first few burns is completely normal and common with coconut based waxes. It will catch up towards the third or fourth burn and beyond. We prefer a little hang up to ensure the jars are kept at safe temperatures.

Excess Soot:

Trim wick to 1/8 inch. Move candle away from drafts. Burn for less time.

Tunneling:

Tunneling is common in first few burns. Burn candle 2-3 times for 3-4 hours to allow wax to pool completely.

Poor Fragrance:

Burn for full 3-4 hours to melt top layer of wax. Move away from drafts. Use single wick candles in small rooms.

REPURPOSE YOUR JAR

  • Repurpose the vessel by freezing the candle for a few hours in your freezer. Once frozen, the remaining wax can be easily popped out and discarded. Clean with soap and warm water, and enjoy your new glassware!

  • Another option is to add boiling hot water to the remaining wax in your vessel. Wait ~30 minutes and the wax should float up in the water for easy disposal. Clean with soap and warm water!

  • All labels can be easily removed with soap and water.
